The discovery data sheets were used to facilitate the
discover step. I think I mentioned
previously that the revision project for LUCO involves eight people five of
which were in LUCO as a participant at some point over the years. The changing focus and personal experiences
added more diversity to the initial conversation but the data sheets were
helpful to bring the clarity to our purpose.
We spent time talking about the problems or challenges and I
made note of the differences based on individual perceptions and goals. There were several documents or resources
shared in this meeting that contributed to the problem datasheet as information
building blocks. As we discussed the
need, it was clear that a collaborative tool would be needed to continue the
dialogue beyond the boundaries of the meeting.
The conversation in the first meeting concluded with a
refocus on teamwork and leadership as the primary goal of LUCO. The datasheet for the goal discovery type was
helpful as I captured the conversation.
Shortly after our meeting, the current LUCO class met at the UCO Ropes
Course and I included a shot of a colleague completing zip line. [sidenote: the zipline itself is not reflective
of teamwork but the effort to reach the top of the utility pole most definitely
requires teamwork or support!].
My role in completing this step was to listen and
record. The datasheets created a simple,
quick to share artifact of the group’s conversation.
